Where every move comes from, how it is checked, and what the labels mean.
Sources
Every move links to where it was announced: the company's own press release or newsroom, an SEC Form 8-K (Item 5.02 is where US public companies report officer appointments and departures), or reputable news. Dates are the announcement date; an effective date is shown only when the source gives one.
The daily agent
Every day at 06:00 UTC an agent searches SEC EDGAR full-text search for new 8-K filings that mention a Chief Data, Chief AI or Chief Analytics Officer, and runs a few news searches for new appointments. It fetches every page itself and reads it with a language model, one batched call. A find is kept only when the person's name and a data or AI title appear in the source text. Kept finds are published with an Unverified badge until checked by hand.
Why
The reason shown for a move is only what the source states, quoted where possible. Nothing is inferred; when a source gives no reason, none is shown.
Who runs data now
A company's current holders are worked out from the moves on record: an appointment or promotion fills a seat; a departure, retirement or move elsewhere empties it. A seat nobody announced a change to may be out of date.
People and photos
Only public professional roles appear. No photos are copied from LinkedIn or other sites: people show as initials unless a company offers an official press headshot, which is then credited. A LinkedIn link appears only when the source or the company names it.
Types
- Appointed: Hired or named into the role from outside.
- Poached: Hired directly from a named competitor, as the source reports it.
- Promoted: Moved up or into the role inside the same company.
- Departed: Left the role, as the company or source reports it.
- Retired: Retiring from the role, as announced.
Across fru.dev
Company names and slugs follow the shared registry at companies.fru.dev; company pages link to the same company on sibling fru.dev sites.
